The Chang Gung Golf Club, located on the Linkou Plateau in Guishan District, Taoyuan City, was initiated by Formosa Plastics Group founders Wang Yung-ching and Wang Yung-tsai in 1980 to commemorate their father, Mr. Wang Chang-gung. It officially opened to the public in 1983. This classic golf course, developed and invested in by a leading domestic enterprise, has long maintained excellent course quality due to the Formosa Plastics Group's pragmatic and rigorous management philosophy. It is a highly respected recreational landmark in northern Taiwan, popular among dignitaries, business leaders, and golf enthusiasts.
The golf course spans 116 hectares and is designed as an international championship-level venue with 27 holes, divided into North, Central, and South sections. The fairways follow the gentle rolling terrain of the Linkou Plateau, with moderate elevation changes and extremely expansive views. Each section's fairways are over 3,600 yards long and range from 50 to 80 meters wide, allowing golfers to enjoy the exhilarating feeling of hitting a driver without pressure. The fairways are entirely covered with lush, fine Bermuda grass, complemented by tens of thousands of thriving trees, creating a beautiful, three-dimensional forest landscape that makes playing a round feel like a stroll through a large ecological park.
In addition to its excellent natural environment and spacious fairways, the Chang Gung Golf Club severely tests a golfer's strategy and consistency. The dense foliage on both sides of the fairways means that off-target drives often get blocked by trees, costing strokes. The strategically placed bunkers and topographical hazards around the greens also demand precise iron control.
